Ruby is a red and luxurious gemstone with a long and interesting history behind it. The first recorded mention of the gemstone Ruby is in the Bible itself.  There is jewelry within many museums all over the world that contain Ruby and not all of it dates from the Roman times. Ruby was also favored by the Greeks and is shown in many of their architectural designs and buildings. Ruby has had a long and colorful history during which the stone itself has swept back in and out of fashion several times. Ruby rings are not cheap when it comes to the price and can range from $500 right up to $50,000 depending on the metal used to encase the stone. Also the carat weight of the stone and color quality is also taken into account when it comes to the price similar to those used on a diamond. It is said that Ruby brings the wearer luck in love and it is a favorite gemstone for the romantics of the world.  Any ring that features a heart design more than likely contains a ruby within it or the principle stone is the ruby. A ring that is given as a gift that has a Ruby encased in it is said to promise the wearer that the giver will always guard their heart for them. Fathers often buy their daughters Rubies in their rings as a sign that they will guard over them until the day they are married and their husband can take over the job. Ruby is often the main feature gemstone in the ring but it can be coupled with other gemstones that enhance the true beauty of the stone; Diamonds mainly.

Ruby is also traditionally given on a couple’s fortieth wedding anniversary so men often buy their wife this type of ring as a present on this special anniversary.
