  • G Scale Trains are suggestive of the trains from the by gone era

G scale trains that come under the brand name of LGB were introduced by Ernst Paul Patentwerk. This famous manufacturer of G scale trains made garden railways popular. Often used outdoors, these installations are named as garden railways. Misnamed as G scale, it is generally called as G Gauge. The gauge of the track is of 45 mm or 1.75 inches. The term Garden Trains has picked up in usage over the previous years to describe G Scale Trains.

G scale models or G scale trains commonly use 16 mm scale, with a 32mm track gauge to give a scale of 1: 20.3. These locomotive models of this scale are often the prototypes of British narrow gauge models. These scale models are smaller than the backyard railroad and do not provide riding facility but are suitable only for display. G scale trains are in the scale range of 1/32- gauge 1 also called as three-eight scale making them impractical for indoor use.

G Scale trains are the most basic level of indoor railways. Special care is taken regarding water, dirt, sunlight and the distance covered means that electrical power will drop off at the end. To eliminate these risks rechargeable batteries and RC car parts are used. Also burners using butane gas are used instead of coal burners.

Many train enthusiasts use plants, dwarfs, variety of pruning and bonsai as a way to accessorize their garden railway display. Building, mountains, bridges, train stations and even towns are build by train lovers just to make the bland view of a train moving on a track a lot more interesting. Take the train around the small pond, under the tunnel or stairway or over the bridge. Many themes like model village or uptown can also by opted by train lovers.

The miniature models of steam trains make them useful and convenient for outdoor display. While sitting along with family and friends in the garden these G Scale trains are things of interest as they are beautiful to look at and can even be considered as toys for play. Though a little expensive in price for a miniature model, these toy trains can be used indoors as well as outdoors for fun and play.
