Football in America is a very influential and popular sport. One of the influential leagues is owned by NFL.  The NFL hosts a whole multitude of different events; the most famous is the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl for some is like a holiday day and it pits the two top teams against each other for the game of all games! It is the most watched event on TV for sport in the whole year. The Super Bowl attracts super star celebrities who sing during before and after the game. Cheerleaders and marching bands also entertain the enormous crowds making the game a true event that it sorely missed by its fans. The NFL also host other numerous games which include Pro Bowl, Combine, Draft, Training Camp Hall of Fame, Pre Season, Kick off, International and Thanks Giving.

There are many different football teams who participate in the games and have a great pride that they show at all times. Their fans also follow this pride and are die hard when it comes to loyalty. The teams are split into groups; AFC North has the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. NFC North has the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. AFC South has the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. The NFC South has the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The AFC East has the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and the New York Jets. The NFC East has the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins. The AFC West has the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers. The NFC West has the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and the St.Louis Rams.

In total there are 32 teams they are divided into sixteen team conferences of which each of them consists of four divisions in which there are four teams.  Baseball is often known and presumed as America’s favorite pastime and sport but a survey polled in 2008 showed that football had overtaken baseball as America’s favorite watched and participated in sport. Each year hundred of thousands of people watch American football games; this can be in high school leagues and in NLF leagues.

The players them selves are all members of a union which is always a good idea as the union will always protect your interests. This football union is called the National Football League Players Association or the NFLPA as it is also known. The NFLPA helps the players by making sure that their contracts are at a certain minimum standard which is also known as the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The minimum contract amount of the player’s salary is dependable on the years of experience that each player has. For no experience a player can expect a minimum wage of $285,000 and for ten years experience the minimum is $820,000.
